KARNATAKA COVID-19 TRACKER: STATE NOW HAS 5.5 LAKH COVID CASES


Bengaluru logged over 4,000 cases for the second day in a row as Karnataka's case count exceeded the 5.5 lakh mark on Friday. With 8,865 people testing positive, Karnataka has climbed up the ladder to 5,57,212 cases.


Bengaluru reported 4,080 positive cases, followed by Mysuru with 702, and Ballari with 498 cases.


Discharges shrank in comparison to Thursday's numbers, with Karnataka adding only registering 5,644 recoveries, taking the total recovery number to 4,50,302.


Mysuru which has previously had healthy discharge numbers saw only 10 people recovering on Friday. Hassan recorded 284 recoveries, followed by Chikamagaluru with 279, Shivamogga with 263, Chitradurga with 244, Dharwad with 214, Ballari with 208 and Davanagere 203, all registering over 200 discharges on Friday.


The death toll for Friday was 86 in Karnataka, bringing the death toll in the state up to 8,417. Again, Bengaluru topped the charts, with 32 deaths.


Around 59,919 samples were examined in labs across Karnataka on Friday. Over 45 Lakh tests have been conducted in Karnataka.
